Agricultural Machinery Mechanics
Agricultural machinery mechanics in Bangladesh involve the use of machinery to improve farm productivity, with high mechanization in land preparation, irrigation, threshing, and pesticide application, while planting and harvesti
ng remain less mechanized. The nation’s progress is supported by policies like the National Agricultural Mechanization Policy 2020, which promotes appropriate-scale mechanization and provides technical support through skilled mechanics, alongside private sector initiatives for machine distribution and service provision. Challenges include ensuring access to appropriate machinery for smallholder farmers, managing maintenance and repair, and developing a skilled workforce to handle modern equipment. Mechanics also play a vital role in operating newly introduced machines.
Agricultural mechanics are the key players in modern agriculture. There are about 600,000 agricultural machinery mechanics in Bangladesh. The life of machines depends on the skill of mechanics in proper repair and maintenance with quality spare parts. Most machine mechanics develop their skills by working under the guidance of experienced head mechanics.
